New format introduced to the channel

Overview & Concept

Creators Playground is a format I introduced to grow the channel’s fanbase by bridging two audiences that rarely share a stage: North Africa and West Africa. The idea was deliberately generous, take one popular creator from each region, put them up against everyday players, and hand every prize the creators win straight to the fans watching.

It reframes the creator not as the prize-winner but as the draw: their following brings the crowd, and the crowd walks away with the rewards. That inversion is what turns casual viewers into invested, returning fans.

Objectives

  • Bridge the North African and West African creator communities on one broadcast.

  • Convert passive viewers into invested fans by making them the winners.

  • Introduce a repeatable, personality-led format alongside the competitive tournaments.

  • Grow reach by borrowing each featured creator’s regional audience.

Format & Structure

Featured creators headline the card and face off against regular players across a series of rounds, with the outcome shaped live by the audience. Real-time polls and giveaways run throughout, so watching and participating become the same action.

  • Regional creators versus everyday players across multiple rounds.

  • Live polls decide moments in the show; giveaways run in parallel.

  • Up to $1,000 in prizes, with the creators’ winnings passed to fans.

Production & Broadcast

The event was produced as a live YouTube broadcast with a branded overlay package, hosting and real-time audience mechanics, built so the poll-and-giveaway loop stayed front and centre rather than bolted on.

Promotion & Social

I designed the campaign graphics myself, headlined by the Creators Playground key art: the three featured creators framed under the Amari Network banner with the date, the prize call-out and a cross-platform follow prompt. The flyer did double duty, hyping the show and signalling the cross-regional line-up at a glance.

Performance & Turnout

As a fan-engagement format, Creators Playground was measured less on raw views than on participation and reach: pulling each creator’s regional following into a single live audience and keeping them active through the polls and giveaways rather than passively watching.

Community & Fan Impact

Making the fans the winners changed the room. Routing 100% of the creators’ winnings to the audience turned spectators into participants with real stakes, and bridging the two regions introduced each creator’s community to the other, exactly the fanbase growth the format was designed to produce.

Partner

In partnership with

Stellas Bank

Creators Playground was run in partnership with Stellas Bank. The bank underwrote the prizes routed to fans and lent the event institutional weight, aligning its brand with the cross-regional creator communities the format was built to connect.

The partnership made the show’s core promise possible, putting real money in the hands of the audience, while giving Stellas Bank authentic reach into North and West African creator scenes.

Reflections

  • What worked: making fans the winners. Routing prizes to the audience turned passive viewers into active participants and gave the format its hook.

  • What I’d refine: capture participation metrics natively, poll turnout and giveaway entries, to quantify engagement next to the tournament’s view counts.

  • What’s next: a recurring series pairing new regional creators each edition to keep widening the cross-regional audience.

Having Lawrence work under my agency made me money as an efficient designer he is, helped me retain my status as a Top 4% upwork agency and I can't be any less proud of him. Under me he learnt framer just so we could get more jobs and he delivered.

Lawrence is a professional through and through. He has been an absolute pleasure to work with, taking in account all of our needs while meeting expectations. I would 100 percent recommend Lawrence for any developmental design needs. If you are hesitating, don't, you won't regret it.

  • Drew Levin

    Co-founder of SideShift

Lawrence worked hand in hand with me and Nick Lawton to get the first version of our site out the door, staying flexible through every change we needed. His cooperation is a big reason we could launch on time and begin major operations. A designer who listens closely and delivers.
