Product: CapSole, the world’s first reusable, airtight preservation pod for sneakers.
Technology: A patent-pending system that seals out oxygen and moisture and injects a proprietary preservative, engineered with a PhD polymer chemist.
Agency: JAH Creative Agency.
My role: Assisting designer, supporting the brand, campaign and store experience.
Proof: 400+ hours of accelerated age testing; a lab-verified 2X sneaker lifespan.

Overview
CapSole invented a category: a reusable, airtight pod that preserves sneakers by replacing the damaging air around them with a proprietary preservative, doubling their lifespan and stopping the yellowing collectors dread. Conceived by founder Darren Lee and engineered with a PhD polymer chemist, it launched to the world via Kickstarter and grew into a full DTC brand.
I worked on CapSole as an assisting designer at JAH Creative Agency, contributing to the brand and store experience that had to make an unfamiliar, science-heavy product feel desirable and trustworthy to sneakerheads.

The Problem
CapSole had a hard story to tell: a brand-new product category, built on chemistry most buyers have never heard of, sold to a community that is exacting about both authenticity and aesthetics. The design had to make ‘patent-pending preservative pod’ feel as covetable as the sneakers it protects.
How might we make a first-of-its-kind, science-led product feel instantly desirable and trustworthy to a discerning sneaker audience?
Constraints
New category: no existing mental model, the product has to explain itself.
Science-heavy story: preservation chemistry made simple and credible, not intimidating.
A discerning audience: sneakerheads expect premium, authentic design.
DTC conversion: brand desirability had to translate into store sales.
Research & Insights
Grounded in the brand’s launch story and the conventions of category-creating DTC products. Key reads:
Category-creators have to teach and sell at once, the ‘how it works’ is the hero, not a footnote.
Proof converts skeptics: lab testing, the 2X claim and demonstrations carry more weight than adjectives.
The sneaker audience buys aesthetics, the brand has to look worthy of the shoes it stores.
Goals & Objectives
Make an invented category self-explanatory.
Turn the science, preservative, oxygen removal, lab testing, into a simple, credible story.
Give the brand the premium, authentic feel sneakerheads respect.
Support a store experience that converts curiosity into purchase.
Process
Working alongside the JAH Creative team, I contributed to the brand and store design, helping translate the preservation science into a clear visual narrative and building the premium, sneaker-worthy feel the product needed to sell itself.
Key Design Decisions
1. Teach through the visual
Make the seal-and-preserve mechanism the centrepiece rather than a footnote, so buyers understand the product before they’re asked to want it.
2. Lead with proof
Foreground the lab testing and the 2X lifespan claim, the evidence that converts a skeptical, technical audience.
3. Premium, authentic tone
Design worthy of the shoes it protects, because a discerning sneaker audience judges the brand by its craft.
4. Desire over spec
Sell the feeling of protecting your grails, backed by, not buried under, the science.
The Solution
Brand and store design for a category-defining product, an experience that makes CapSole’s preservation science legible, foregrounds the lab-verified proof, and gives a first-of-its-kind product the premium, covetable feel its audience demands.
Results & Impact
CapSole launched as the world’s first sneaker-preservation pod, patent-pending, backed by 400+ hours of accelerated age testing and a lab-verified 2X lifespan, going from a Kickstarter campaign to a full DTC store. Contributing to that brand as an assisting designer at JAH Creative meant helping a genuinely new category make its first impression.
Reflections
What I took from it: designing for a category that didn’t exist yet, where the design has to teach before it can sell.
What I’d explore next: interactive demonstrations of the preservation process to deepen belief.
Working under an agency on a launch brand sharpened how I turn a technical story into desire.

Having Lawrence work under my agency made me money as an efficient designer he is, helped me retain my status as a Top 4% upwork agency and I can't be any less proud of him. Under me he learnt framer just so we could get more jobs and he delivered.

Lawrence is a professional through and through. He has been an absolute pleasure to work with, taking in account all of our needs while meeting expectations. I would 100 percent recommend Lawrence for any developmental design needs. If you are hesitating, don't, you won't regret it.
Drew Levin
Co-founder of SideShift
Lawrence worked hand in hand with me and Nick Lawton to get the first version of our site out the door, staying flexible through every change we needed. His cooperation is a big reason we could launch on time and begin major operations. A designer who listens closely and delivers.
