Snapshot
Product: Pontis, “Your AI Health Companion.” Daily health tracking distilled into one score, connected to real care: doctors, pharmacies and labs.
Client: Confidential healthtech client. Brand and product designed end-to-end, from logo rationale to video-consultation flows.
My role: Brand & product designer, identity system, brand guideline, UX architecture, high-fidelity UI across 60+ screens.
Delivered: Complete brand book (logo, color, typography), onboarding and evaluation flows, five tracking modules, and the Core Care service marketplace.
Project Health
Overview
Personal health data is scattered, steps in one app, weight in another, medications on paper, and none of it connects to the moment that matters: seeing a doctor, filling a prescription, booking a lab test. Pontis was commissioned as a companion that closes that loop. It reads daily signals into a single Pontis Score, explains what drives it, and puts vetted care, consultations, pharmacy, labs, one tap away.
The brand carries half the product’s job. Health apps skew clinical, and clinical interfaces push away the people who most need daily engagement. Pontis was designed to feel like guidance rather than diagnosis, soft, organic forms, a green palette built on trust and wellness, and a tone that encourages instead of warns.

The Problem
Client discovery kept returning to the same failure mode: tracking apps get abandoned because they produce numbers without consequences, and telehealth products sit unused because they’re disconnected from daily habits. Between the two categories is a gap, nothing turns everyday signals into an actionable care journey.
How might we make daily health engagement feel encouraging rather than clinical, and connect what users track to real-world care they can act on?

Constraints
Brand from zero: no existing identity, logo, palette and typography had to be rationalized and documented before product UI could settle.
A sensitive domain: health information demands calm, credibility and restraint; playfulness could never read as unseriousness.
A real payments market: consultation and pharmacy checkouts priced in Naira with local payment methods, trust cues mattered.
Breadth: onboarding, five tracking modules and three care services had to feel like one product, not three.
Research & Insights
The work was grounded in discovery sessions with the client on the care-service model, a domain analysis across the two competing categories, habit trackers and telehealth apps, and tone studies on how health interfaces produce anxiety. Three insights shaped the architecture:
A single score motivates only if it can be decomposed. An opaque number reads as judgment; a score that explains itself, respiratory, nutrition, lifestyle, vision, stress, reads as guidance.
Intimidation, not complexity, is the churn driver. Warm typography, avatar personalization and conversational flows lower the barrier that clinical forms raise.
Tracking without a next step gets abandoned. The care loop, evaluate, consult, prescribe, test, is the retention mechanism, not a feature bolted on.
Goals & Objectives
Create an identity calm enough for a health context and distinctive enough to own, documented so thoroughly the client can apply it without the designer in the room.
Distill daily signals into one motivating, explainable number, the Pontis Score.
Close the loop from tracking to treatment: consultation, pharmacy and labs inside the same product.
Make onboarding feel like a conversation, not an intake form.
Process
The brand book came first, logo rationale, primary and secondary lockups, clearspace, the full color system and a Nunito Sans + Geist type pairing: warmth for the interface, precision for data. With the emotional direction locked, product design followed the user’s journey in order, sign-in and account setup, a 13-question conversational evaluation, the score and its tracking modules (weight, steps, hydration, mood, medications), and finally the Core Care flows: doctor discovery and booking, payment, video consultation with AI session summaries, pharmacy inventory with prescription upload, and featured labs.
Key Design Decisions
1. Brand before product
Locking the identity first gave every subsequent screen a reference point: when a flow felt clinical, the brand book said what warm looked like. The cost was a slower start on UI, repaid by the coherence of 60+ screens that read as one product.
2. One score, decomposable on demand
The Pontis Score leads every session as a single 0–100 number, but decomposes into category subscores with AI recommendations. This avoids the two failure modes of health scoring: opaque wellness theater, and dashboard sprawl that motivates no one.
3. Close the loop with Core Care
Consultations, pharmacy and labs live inside Pontis rather than linking out. This was the highest-scope decision in the project, it tripled the flow count, but it is the product’s differentiator: tracking creates intent, and Core Care catches it in the same session.
4. Personalization over clinical intake
Onboarding runs as a 13-question conversation fronted by avatar selection, trading a longer first run for comfort and completion intent. Avatars carry through consultations and reviews, keeping the product personal in its most medical moments.
5. A type system that splits warmth from precision
Nunito Sans handles interface voice, rounded, legible, friendly, while Geist handles data: scores, dosages, prices. The pairing lets the same screen soothe and inform without either job compromising the other.
Style Guide

The Solution
Pontis Score: a single 0–100 health score with category breakdowns and AI recommendations.
Daily trackers: weight, steps, hydration, mood and medications, each with history and insight states.
Appointments: upcoming-visit cards, reminders, reschedule and cancellation flows.
Core Care consultations: vetted doctor discovery, booking, secure payment, video calls and AI session summaries.
Core Care pharmacy & labs, inventories, drug details, prescription upload and featured lab tests.
High Fidelity

Results & Impact
Pontis shipped to the client as one cohesive system, from favicon to video consultation. The delivered package spans the complete brand guideline and 60+ product screens across onboarding, tracking and all three care services, giving the product a consistent voice at every touchpoint of the care journey.
Reflections
What worked: sequencing brand before product. Every UI debate had an answer in the brand book, which kept a very broad scope coherent.
What I’d do differently: pressure-test the lime palette for accessibility earlier, contrast tuning on light surfaces happened later than it should have.
What I’d validate next: score comprehension, do users read 87/100 as guidance or judgment?, and completion rates on the 13-question evaluation.
